ANCILLARY RESEARCH: Analysing 3 Digipaks

Girls Aloud - Tangled Up

This Girls Aloud Album cover is really interesting. The pictures used are close-ups of the girls, who are dressed in simple white tops. The thing that stands out in their image is the make-up, which is different for each of them.
The fonts used are simple and clean and work well together. The name of the group is not bigger than the album name, which would be conventional, but that may be because they are a very well-known group already and their images are enough for people to recognise them - this would not be true in a debut artist, so I will need to have the name of the group in bigger font on my digipak.
I really like the way the pictures are cut and the lines that go through, making them look 'tangled up' in them.

Sugababes - Change
The feature that stands out in this cover is the coordination of their costumes, they're all wearing a piece that is yellow. This is very conventional for a girl group.
The fonts are interesting and quite different from each other, but the colour is similar between the album name and the group name. The photo itself is of the 3 girls together, also very conventional, as it makes them look like a strong group and this is also done through the similarity in their outfits.

The Saturdays - Gentleman

The Saturdays' album cover is illustrating the name of the album - 'Gentleman'. They are all weareing masculine clothes and posing in masculine ways - this is effective, as their image in this photo is very well-established. The font for the name of the group is unique and interesting, and a lot bigger than the name of the album - perhaps this is because the photo itself suggests that name, so the focus is more on their image than on the words.
