We decided to look at girl groups as we will be a girl group in our video.
Camera work
In the Sugarbabes video there are:
- Medium shots
- Wide shots
- High angle shots
- Long shots
- Close ups
- Panning.
In the Saturdays video there are:
- Close ups
- Wide shots
- Long shots
- Low angle shots
- High angle shots
- Tracking
In the Little Mix video there are:
- Close ups
- Two shots
- Long shots
- Wide shots
- Extreme wide shots
- Panning.
For our we use mainly the same shots as these music videos, in particular close ups. We will also do what the videos do and break the fourth wall, so we can connect with our audience more.
Mise-en-scene
The 3 groups are dressed for the male gaze. While Little Mix and the Saturdays where colourful clothing, the Sugarbabes wear all black. All 3 groups wear, at some point in their videos, shorts which show off their legs, again appropriate for the male gaze. There are bright accessories in Wings and What about us, not so much in round. The Sugarbabes mainly stuck to one colour whereas the others had a mixture of colours. There are no costumes for the sugarbabes, but for the other two videos there are costume changes. We have decided for our video to go along with the Saturdays and Little Mix and have costume changes as it follows the conventions of music videos.
The gif below show the different costumes.
Editing
There are a few swirling graphics in Wings and Round Round. The pace of the camera also speeds up in Round Round. The videos are edited to the beat as well. We plan to edit our video to the beat as it follows the conventions of a music video. We also plan to make ours a little different and use text graphics for ours when we are texting in the video.
