Laura Mulvey
"In a world ordered by sexual imbalance, pleasure in looking has been split between active/male and passive/female. The determining male gaze projects its fantasy onto the female figure which is styled accordingly".- Laura MulveyThis statement is talking about how women are presented in some music videos: to please men. Laura goes on to say how many videos are created for male pleasure/pleasing and that they broadcast women passively. She is also saying that women are 'sculpted' and styled specifically for male attraction in videos.
The gifs I created below feature female artists styled provocatively for male attraction with minimal and no clothing on.
The videos below passively expose women and include skimpy bikinis, shorts, tight tops and heels. This is to make them look 'sexy' and 'attractive'. There are close ups of the female bodies which does add to this provocative look. The women are dancing and walking and making sexual face expressions which all adds to this. The men in this, however, seem to have all power in the videos, especially over the women. This is also very common for the 'White Male Gaze'.

The Male Gaze
This is when men are aware that women can be viewed in provocative and such ways and as such linger over a woman's body. This is due to the fact that it is mostly men in control over the camera. The new gifs below show why males linger over female bodies in music videos.
The video below is Miley Cyrus Wrecking Ball. Miley has recently re-invented herself from her Disney child star 'Hannah Montana' image and she now fits Laura Mulveys statement as she is there baring all in the video to be stared at in awe.
