Research: Quick analysis of a music video

Rizzle Kicks: Lost Generation

Things I noticed:

  • Quite a few jump cuts and they are in time with the beat. There are lots of jump cuts when they are walking, in the house, watching tv, from the car and many more.
  • There is slow motion when everyone is dancing, when people are on their bikes, and when they are running.
  • There are obvious edits including black & white shots, at the end of the video and the titles.
  • The camera is moving in time with the music and there is a base track in the video.
  • The artists break the 'fourth wall' and make eye contact with the camera
  • Repeated shots of the artists are used.
  • Lots of different shots are used, like close ups, two shots, wide shots, long shots. Camera tracking is used as well.
  • It follows the functions of a music video by promoting the artists and capturing the audiences attention.
