RESEARCH: Previous Student Video Analysis

10. Aleksandra Dugic, Emily Cannon, Mostafa Rahman from 283goswell on Vimeo.

This is one of my favourite previous student videos from last year's A2 groups.
It is a song I like, and I particularly liked the way the video is edited to the beat. When four gunshots are heard, which is a very easily recognisable feature of this song, the editing is done on the sound of the shots.
The camera is always moving, making the video dynamic.
The singer looks at the camera and breaks the fourth wall in almost every shot, being in the centre of the video, illustrating Andrew Goodwin's theory. Another feature, which supports Carol Vernallis' theory is that the video does not have a traditional narrative structure - it has a number of different base tracks between which it goes back and forth.

The video is very appropriate for the genre of the song, and it has some interesting shots, plenty of close-ups and a wide variety of other camera angles.
A weakness of the video is that a few shots are a bit out of focus, but overall the camerawork and the editing are very good and the video is interesting.
